Meaningful Gift Giving Ideas

With Christmas coming up, and the Cost-of-Living Crisis is very much still impacting our everyday lives, it is important to remember that you don't have to spend vast amounts of money on friends and loved ones to show them your appreciation.

1. Think small, not big
This may sound counterintuitive, but it really is the little things that mean a lot. If you know someone is starting a new job, get them a new diary and write a positive note inside so they are ready for their new chapter.

If you know someone who gets cold a lot, get them some fluffy socks to keep them warm. If you know someone who loves their coffee, get them a coffee voucher so they can drink their caramel latte and know you've got it covered.

By focussing on the little things, it shows you put time and thought into their gift. It shows your appreciation for them, and that is something they can treasure in and of itself.

2. Make them something
Even if you don't consider yourself a creative person, there are many things that you can make for someone that work as a gift. Got an empty mason jar? Fill it with cocoa powder, marshmallows and some chocolate stars and decorate with Christmas stickers; now someone has their own hot chocolate mix.

You could also use an empty Mason jar as a candle holder; stick in the candle, and once again, make it Christmas themed. You could also paint Mason jars with chalk paint and then you've got a nice, personalised container.

With only a mason jar, you can do many things, so why not brainstorm your own ideas for homemade gifts?

3. Support Small Businesses
If you aren't the creative type and you want something with a homemade feel at a reasonable price, why not support a small business online?

With a site like Etsy you can specifically search for gifts with a certain theme, that are within your price range and with no delivery fee. There are a lot of lovely independent creators doing amazing things, so if you can, why not help them in the gift giving process?

Here are some ideas to make your loved ones feel special, without breaking the bank:

So, when deciding on what to give this Christmas, just remember it isn't about the gifts- it's about showing you care!
